LANSING, Mi (Great Lakes News) – Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer is calling for racial healing.

Gov. Whitmer declared Tuesday a day of racial healing in Michigan. On the eve of Joe Biden’s inauguration, Whitmer said, “We must take a hard look at the state of rising racial tensions in our country.”

In a proclamation, she said Michiganders must dedicate ourselves to “transformation” to “bring about the necessary changes in…systems that will reduce the harmful effects of racial biases.”

In August, Whitmer declared racism a “public health crisis.”
