LANSING, Mi (Great Lakes News) – Michigan’s new budget may include money to prevent firearms at the Capitol.
The state’s new budget proposal includes $5 million to enforce the new open carry ban at the Capitol. The Michigan State Capitol Commission recently banned open carry firearms but said it did not have the funds to enforce it.

The money would likely be used to install metal detectors and inspection stations at entrances.
Concealed carry is not affected.
The proposal will now go through a lengthy review before being adopted later this year.
